WDDTY deleted these rather boring comments

Bizarrely these posts and others were deleted by Lynne Mctaggart from the What Doctors Don't Tell You Facebook page.

Tesco 18th October

Dear Mr Black

Thank you for getting back to me.

We have reviewed your feedback and are grateful for the time you have taken to write to us. Whilst I know this news will come as disappointment to you, we will be continuing to offer our customers this publication as part of our magazine offer.

Many customers enjoy buying and reading this magazine. This does not mean that Tesco endorses the content of it, nor do we endorse the content of any other publication we sell. We hold editorial teams responsible for the content of publications they produce.

We take pride in the fact that we give our customers a huge range of choice, and whether we agree or disagree with a publication is not the measure of whether we sell it. As long as a product is not illegal or grossly offensive, cases in which we absolutely would not sell a publication, we trust the customer to use his or her judgement and make responsible decisions. By not stocking this magazine, we would be removing that choice.

Once again, thank you for taking the time to share your views with us. I am sorry for the disappointment my response will cause you, but this is our final position on the matter.

Kind regards

Paul Milligan

My reply to tesco 17th October am.

Dear Paul ,

Thank you for responding to my email.

I'm afraid you haven't answered my concerns.

Let me lay them out simply for you as questions so I may get a response.

1. Do Tesco have control over which magazines to stock?

One of your "Big Three Ambitions" is to improve the health of your customers and colleagues.

2. Given that ambition would you stock any magazine that provides inaccurate health information or dangerous suggestions?

3. Can you provide a rationale for why you do not stock popular titles for adults only?

4. Given that the content is not your responsibility how do you decide which magazines to stock?

Regards

Richard Black

Tesco respond

Dear Mr Black

Thank you for your email addressed to Philip Clarke, our Chief Executive, to which I have been asked to reply.

I am sorry that your recent posts on our Facebook page were deleted. After some investigation, this happened due to both posts being highlighted for containing a priority keyword (porn) that we have asked our filter to look for. Your first post was deleted by a member of the team, which we accept was over zealous, but the second was deleted by our automatic moderation system. We have fed this back and it will be addressed to prevent it happening again.

With regard to our decision to stock What Doctor's Don't Tell You, there is nothing further that I can add to the response you have already been given. It remains the case that we offer an extensive range of newspapers and magazines which appeal to a wide range of customers. We also believe that the editorial content of this title is a matter for the publisher.

While I appreciate you remain unhappy, this is our final position on the matter.

Thank you for contacting us.

Kind regards

My complaint to Tesco.

Dear Philip,

I have been trying to engage with your social media team recently regarding some issues I have with your choice to stock What Doctors Don't Tell You.

However your team seem to just delete my questions and comments rather than respond.

I'm sure you are aware of the dangerous magazine you maintain you will sell regardless of the content of it. Stating it's content is an issue for its publisher.

However the choice to stock WDDTY lies solely with your company.

You have said you are not moral guardians or censors however you don't stock other controversial titles, such as hardcore porn, Mein Kampf or the anarchist cook book. So you do have some control over what is sold in your stores.

Please stop stocking this magazine.

Please make sure your social media team stop deleting complaints from your Facebook page.

Please make sure you take proper responsibility for your business and customers.

Please acknowledge that you have some control over the buying process.

I await a full reply
